Studying of literatures representing various ethnic groups in the United States has recently become one of the most important areas of scientific and public discourse. This applies to different literatures: Indian, Jewish, Latino and, of course, African American. Indeed, the contribution of African Americans to verbal art is indisputable, and the names of Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Ralph Ellison, Tony Morrison, Gwendolyn Brooks, Margaret Walker and many others are widely known and inseparable from the literary process of the United States. However, it was not always so. For a long time the contribution of Black Americans to the literature and culture of United States was underestimated by the official academic science, despite the fact that works by writers such as Hughes, Wright, Morrison, Ellison and others received international recognition. In this respect, the works of Richard Wright deserve for special analysis since they disclose the problem of racial discrimination with the immense honesty. The writer, who had experienced the atrocities of racism by himself, does not only describes them as vividly as possible, but also calls for radical actions aimed at restoring justice and elimination of racial discrimination. Richard Wright employs two main techniques making his work more influential. He uses the language and imagery that is homogenous to the time and people of his piece which represents the deep south of the United States in the early 20th century. This manner of writing was chosen to get the reader deeply involved. Wright also researches the role of a separate individual within a community as well as the influence of religion on people.
