Critique of ADA and Affirmative Action



Discrimination among students, communities, and in the workplace is a major issue and has change in certain areas but still exist. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act ban employers from discriminating against people with disabilities according to their age, race, sex, or disabilities majority of organizations still operates this type of behavior when conducting the hiring process. After the Civil Rights Act came American Disabilities Act (ADA) by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965 to ensure that government employers does not practice any type of discrimination during the hiring process of disable employees. The ADA did not take effect right away but years later it did and as results protected people with any type of disabilities.



American Disabilities Act and Affirmative Action purpose were to demonstrate equality in the workplace, schools, communities, and among each other. The laws protect certain groups from discrimination but other groups may still be discriminate against in certain places. I would provide information on the cons and pros of both laws, the impact on organizations, schools, communities, and my personal belief toward discrimination.



American Disabilities Act (ADA)



In 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the American Disabilities Act (Action for Access, nd). The purposes of ADA were to protect people with disabilities from organizations, small businesses, schools, and communities from discrimination that refused to provide employment, transportation, and any other form of communication opportunities to people with disabilities.
