Global Warming


In the Bible, it was predicted that the apocalypse would occur. A new world, a better world would one day come. When God created the earth, He envisoned a peaceful place filled with good. However, He was not resistent to punish if His vision was shattered. For thousands of years, the Earth and its environment has been changing. Most of the decisions made by humankind have been slowly destroying the Earth and one day its people. One of the effects is global warming. Global warming is a modern example of the apocalypse. The environment has been an important issue since the Earth's conception and continues right through until the Revelation to John. The world is a beautiful and wonderous place and must be kept as God intended it to be.


Global warming, or climate change is believed to be caused by greenhouse gas emissions. These gases include carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, and the fluorocarbons. It is believed that the human race is responsible for the depletion of our ozone and the destruction of our environment. The industrial revolutions, gridlock, and deforestation are all human contributing factors to this modern day apocalypse.


“But can we say something is 'apocalyptic' if it is not grounded in Judaeo-Christian eschatology and the Book of Revelation to John? To do so reduces the epithet to mean nothing more than 'awesome', 'terrifying' or 'devastating' (Jennaway, 2008, p. 70). Although global warming theory was only introduced in the 19th century, it is still a conception of the world's end. It may not be an event that occurs at one point in time, but we can still feel the ramifications of the inevitable.
